Some marine collagen literature claims a bioavailability edge over land-animal sources, but the hydrolysis step — not the species of origin — is what actually determines peptide size and uptake. A properly hydrolyzed bovine peptide and a properly hydrolyzed marine peptide are both small enough to cross the intestinal mucosa; neither source has a monopoly on that process.
Where the real clinical evidence sits — and it isn’t with either hydrolyzed source

None of this replaces the basics of a mobility plan. A dog carrying extra weight puts more load through every joint than any supplement can offset, and I’d rather a 78-pound Lab like Otis lose four pounds than switch collagen sources twice looking for a marginal edge. Weight management, a non-slip surface at the top of those back-door steps, and a consistent, low-impact walking routine do more for day-to-day comfort than the choice between marine and bovine peptides ever will.
